TPS para venezolanos es extendido hasta 2024

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the extension of Temporary Protected Status – TPS for Venezuela until March 10, 2024. The 18-month extension will be effective from September 10, 2022.

Only beneficiaries under Venezuela’s existing designation, and who were already residing in the United States as of March 8, 2021, are eligible to re-register for TPS under this extension. If they have not yet applied with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), they should file their applications prior to September 9, 2022.

Venezuelans who arrived in the United States after March 8, 2021, are not eligible for TPS. They are still eligible to file for asylum and should do so within one year of their entry into the US.

“After careful consideration, and in consultation with the Secretary of State, today I am extending that designation,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas.

Pending TPS applications

USCIS will continue to process pending applications. Applicants with a pending application do not need to file either application again. USCIS will grant the applicant TPS through March 10, 2024. Similarly, if USCIS approves a pending TPS-related Form I-765 for an initial applicant, USCIS will issue a new EAD valid through March 10, 2024.
