Does your attorney understand your journey?

Hello friends, I am attorney Jessica Piedra.  After working in immigration law for fifteen years, I have now launched my own law firm, Law Office of Jessica Piedra, LLC.  I specialize in immigration law and assist immigrant families by offering excellent legal services at affordable prices.  We are located in the heart of the Hispanic community in the Westside of Kansas City, Missouri.

I am very passionate about the work I do and have empathy for my clients because I too have been through the immigration process with my own family.  I understand the struggles. It took us three years to finally get a legal status for my husband. When we were first married, we had very little hope of ever achieving that goal.  Fortunately, the law shifted and we started our journey but we always worried he would be taken from us. In order to finish the process, he had to return to Mexico.  I was in the middle of law school when he left and we thought he’d be gone about 4 months. I stayed behind with our two children and four months came and went.  My children and I had lost hope he would ever come back. He finally returned to us almost a full year later.  I want to help other families through this difficult process as I understand what they are facing.

At the Law Office of Jessica Piedra, all of our staff speaks Spanish - even me, “la güera” from Gardner, KS!  Our clients appreciate the time we take to explain their situation and immigration options in a clear manner so that they are empowered to make informed choices about their lives. We provide excellent services at affordable prices so that families can move forward in their immigration journey.

I am proud to work for immigrant rights, especially for educational opportunities for youth.  I successfully advocated for DACA youth and helped open Missouri’s public universities to immigrant students.  I was named pro bono lawyer of the year for Missouri, Ohtli Award winner by the Mexican Consulate and the Humanitarian of the Year award recipient by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

I’ll be back each week with more immigration news and stories.  Meanwhile, follow us on Facebook and Twitter - @jpiedralaw or call us at 816-895-6363.

We’ll talk soon.

Jessica Piedra
